Job Description

We are looking for a mechanical engineer with a strong plastics and manufacturing background who is motivated to take our products through the complete design for manufacturing process. Responsibilities will include the design for manufacturing steps of our mechanical and industrial designs and the selection of materials used in our products. You will work with designers, other mechanical engineers, electrical and aeronautical engineers to finalize the designs of the airframe for a drone, the landing platform, and the enclosure for our remote sensors.

• Lead the design of the airframe, the landing platform, and the enclosure for remote,
outdoor sensors through the manufacturing process
• Source and decide on materials and processes to be used to manufacture the
• Support the generation of the bill of materials, part and assembly drawings,
assembly instructions, and assembly testing
• Oversee the supply chain for small-scale manufacturing
• Interface with component manufacturing partners
• Support the tool design and monitor the production process
• Collaborate with designers, electrical engineers, and other mechanical engineers
• Possibly perform structural and thermal analyses as required to support component
and system design optimization

Skills and Qualifications
• Strong background and experience with different plastics and other materials for
outdoor use
• Experience with different plastic manufacturing methods, such as injection molding,
thermoforming, etc.
• Experience with manufacturing tolerances
• Experience with machined components
• Experience with environmental impact on products and with environmental testing
• Proficient in SolidWorks
• Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics,
thermodynamics, materials science etc.
• Experience with thermal analysis and with structural analysis is a plus
• Experience with drone manufacturing is a plus
• Experience in manufacturing products for the automotive, aerospace, medical or
similar field
• Minimum B.S. in mechanical engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Good oral and written skills in English
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
• Must be flexible and be able to work in a multicultural environment
• Must be flexible to travel when required
• Must have experience in related engineering fields
• Willing to work full-time in Zurich at our R&D lab
• Work permit in Switzerland required
