Android / iOS Developer

Noa is a Dublin based audio-journalism platform that is looking to change the way people consume journalism. We have partnered with the world’s leading publishers including The New York Times, Financial Times, Bloomberg, The Economist, The Irish Times and more.

Our goal is to deliver high-quality, human-narrated journalism across all audio-supported platforms including mobile, web, smart speakers and connected cars. Noa is the Spotify of journalism as we allow users to stay informed, no matter how busy their schedule is.

Developers at Noa are full of ideas and we thrive on a culture where anyone can contribute towards any aspect of the business. Whiteboard mock-up sessions are a common way for the team to discuss and collaborate on various items including new app features, alternative UI designs or new software processes and architecture.

Your Mission

We are looking for an Android or iOS developer to join our team and help build an application that consumers use as part of their daily routine to keep up with the latest in journalism. As part of the team, you will play a vital role in shaping our mobile products, through the implementation of new features, optimising performance and building slick user interfaces.

Specifically, you will:

 

  • Work as part of the team to discover the best features for our mobile products.
  • Develop and maintain these features, adhering to best practices.
  • Unit-test code for robustness, usability and reliability.
  • Ensure that all features are well-tested across a wide range of mobile devices.

What you need

  • Passion to be involved in a fast-paced start-up environment, where you can heavily influence the direction of our products.
  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in developing Android or iOS applications.
  • Strong knowledge of the Android or iOS development framework (or both!).
  • Good understanding of Git version control.
  • Experience working with an Agile software process.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs.

  • Cloud Services: AWS - Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, EC2, Lambda, S3, etc…
  • Database: MySQL, DynamoDB
  • Backend: NodeJS
  • Frontend - Web: Angular 6+, React Redux
  • Frontend - Mobile / Connected Cars: Android (Java/Kotlin), iOS (Swift)
  • Frontend - Smart Speakers): Alexa SDK, Google Home SDK
